The Ridgewood Education Foundation (REF) recently awarded a variety of classroom mini-grants totaling $8,984.58. Awards were made to eight grant applicants from five different Ridgewood schools covering a wide range of study.

Please click here to view a pdf of the press release, which includes descriptions of the winning grants.

Fore!

You can be on the green with Phil, and no one will know you can't putt.  How? REF has partnered with the PGA Tour when the top PGA players come to Ridgewood Country Club this August for the Barclay's Tournament, and we need you to help.  In exchange for sending volunteers to staff various on course and off-course positions, the PGA Tour will make a donation to REF.  All volunteers will receive a uniform golf shirt, cap, week-long pass, lunch vouchers, and a guest pass in exchange for working three 4-6 hour shifts - or two shifts if you volunteer with your minor child (ages 10 and up, please).

Volunteer jobs include:

1) "Thru Boards" or "Status Boards": Volunteers must post names, daily scores, etc prior to the groups arrival at the green.  Thru board are on elevated platforms near the greens.  The thru boards are operational Thursday - Sunday during the competitive rounds. Kids can do this job, if accompanied by a parent.

2) SHOTLink Laser Operators: Volunteers are stationed on both the fairways and greens operating scoring lasers.  You MUST attend a training session prior to tournament week, then be available during competitive rounds.  Kids, especially those 14 & up, can do this, if accompanied by a parent.

3) Admissions: Sell tickets & assist w/ security check.  Should be 18 years old.

4) Ambassadors: Assist & greet spectators at main entrance and behind the 18th green.

5) Standard bearers: Accompany a group of golfers and carry signs displaying names & score on a cumulative basis.

6) Office help: Sell tickets, telephone work, and/or course prep.  This is done over the summer prior to the tournament - so if you're away during the tournament, you can still volunteer.

Volunteers should list at least two job choices on the volunteer form, and should choose at least three days to volunteer.  Dates are listed on the volunteer form.  The more days that you are available, the more likely you will be given your first choice in jobs.

Please mail completed volunteer form by May 30th to: REF, P.O. Box 575, Ridgewood, NJ 07450
